We have successfully fitted our remote-control system to a wide range of Caterpillar excavators - from the old D, E and F series up to the newest NextGen machines. Both the original Caterpillar monitor and the third-party GPS monitor have been moved out of the cabin over to the remote operator chair. Combined with Steer Remote Control user interface, the operator gains full access to all features of the machine. Rototilt systems and accessories such as a hammer and forestry equipment is also supported.
Steer has retrofitted a Caterpillar D8 NextGen and also a Caterpillar D6T with the Steer RemoteControl system. The remote operator chair is tailored with pedals and joysticks similar to the operators’ cabin - making the driving experience identical. Both the original Caterpillar monitor and the Trimble GPS monitor were moved out of the operators cabin and to the remote operator chair - giving the operator full access to all features of the machine.
Two Caterpillar 730 articulated dump trucks were fitted with our cutting-edge remote-control technology back in 2010. The ADT’s were also equipped with an autonomous system, enabling them to drive all by themselves (semi-autonomously) via pre-planned GPS routes - without human interaction.
In 2019 we retrofitted a Volvo ECR25D with the brand new Steer RemoteControl system. New electromagnetic valves had to be added to the machine due to pilot hydraulics being used on the machine. Two wide angle cameras in the front and the back ensures excellent visibility for the remote operator.
In 2017 we fitted a Volvo A45G FS articulated dump truck with the Steer RemoteControl system. It was used in an area near Oslo Airport where explosives from second world war were removed from the ground. In 2019 we did the same on a A30G FS which was used on another site.
In 2012 a John Deere 8260 R tractor was fitted with our early remote-control solution. It was also equipped with a PTH stone crusher - enabling it to crush roads for the Norwegian Armed Forces where there might be undetonated ammunition in the ground.
